WATAUGA COUNTY, N.C. — Today will be cloudy and unseasonably cold, with afternoon temperatures only in the low to mid-40s. The average high this time of the year is 52. Look for some light rain across the Charlotte metro area. Some freezing rain and light snow are also possible. Skies will be mostly cloudy tonight with lows in the low 30s.
Tuesday will start with mostly cloudy skies. By mid-afternoon, sunny skies return, but it will still be cold. Highs should only make it into the mid-40s across the Piedmont and the Upstate of South Carolina. Skies will be clear overnight, as temperatures fall into the mid to upper 20s.
By midweek, high temperatures will still be below average across the region. Highs will be in the upper 40s, with areas east and southeast in the low 50s. Overnight, temperatures will fall into the mid-20s. Thursday will be a day with partly sunny skies and highs returning to the low 50s. Friday will be a mild day with highs actually above average for the area: upper 50s around 60. With that comes a slight chance of rain, mainly in the afternoon and evening.
