ROSE HILL, NC -- A tornado destroyed and damaged multiple homes in a small Eastern North Carolina town Monday night.

The National Weather Service in Morehead City confirms that an EF-2 tornado with winds up to 115 mph touched down near Greenevers, NC just before 5pm Monday. The twister was brief but strong, and was only estimated to be on the ground for 350 yards.

Two manufactured homes were badly damaged, and one single-family brick home was destroyed. Several cars were also moved or flipped.

This storm system moved through North Carolina, and headed out to sea Tuesday. In the Triad, clouds and drizzle were seen, but no severe weather.
