CHARLOTTE, N.C. — After temperatures cooled off a bit on Thursday and Friday, another heat wave is on the horizon for the Queen City.

The WCNC Weather Impact Team wants the Charlotte area to stay Weather Aware early next week due to the excessive heat and humidity that will make it dangerous to be outdoors for extended periods.

When

Monday, July 15, Tuesday, July 16, and Wednesday, July 17, from 11 a.m. - 8 p.m.

Forecast

This heat wave is coming with highs in the upper 90s with heat index readings near 105 degrees. Heat advisories are likely to be issued, too.

For context, temperatures in early July for Charlotte typically stay around 90 degrees, so this heat wave knocked that out of the park.

  • Don't cancel plans, but have alternate indoor plans in case a thunderstorm strikes
  • Have a place to seek shelter as storms develop
  • Limiting your time outside
  • Staying hydrated
