Concert for Carolina: what to know before you go

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Some of North Carolina's biggest artists are coming together for a concert in Charlotte that will benefit communities impacted by Hurricane Helene

Eric Church, Luke Combs, Sheryl Crow, Billy Strings and James Taylor will perform a special "Concert for Carolina" on Saturday, Oct. 26, at Bank of America Stadium. 

The show will be presented by Explore Asheville with all proceeds benefiting Hurricane Helene relief efforts across western North Carolina. The show will be hosted by ESPN's Marty Smith and Barstool Sports' Caleb Pressley. 

Thousands will be in Uptown Charlotte to support the cause. Here's what to know before you go.

How to get to the stadium

If you're driving to the show, there are more than 30,000 parking spaces available within a 15-minute walk to Bank of America Stadium. Fans can also reserve parking spots ahead of the concert here.

If you're not driving to the concert, rideshare services like Uber and Lyft are available. The city of Charlotte asks fans to pick up and drop off using their preferred rideshare app at the corner of Third and Church Streets, next to Romare Bearden Park.

Here's how you can get to the stadium:

  • I-85 from the South - Look for signs to exit at either Billy Graham Parkway, Freedom Drive, Brookshire Freeway (I-277 East) or I-77 South.
  • I-85 from the North - Look for signs to exit at either Sugar Creek Road, Statesville Avenue or I-77 South.
  • I-77 from the South - Look for signs to exit at either John Belk Freeway (I-277) or Trade Street.
  • I-77 from the North - Look for signs to exit at either Brookshire Freeway (I-277 East), Fifth Street, Trade Street, Morehead Street or John Belk Freeway (I-277).
  • Wilkinson Boulevard (US 74) from the West - Follow signs for John Belk Freeway (I-277) and exit at either Carson Boulevard, College Street, South Boulevard or Brevard Street.
  • Independence Boulevard (US 74) from the East - Follow signs for John Belk Freeway (I-277) and exit at either Sixth Street, Fourth Street, Stonewall Street* or South Boulevard.
  • Brookshire Freeway (I-277) from the West - Look for signs to exit at either I-77 South, Graham Street, Church Street or Brevard Street.
  • NC 49/US 29 from the Northeast - Follow Tryon Street to Church Street.
  • Airport - Follow Josh Birmingham Parkway 1.5 miles to Billy Graham Parkway South. Proceed on Billy Graham to I-77 North. Look for signs to exit at either John Belk Freeway (I-277) or Trade Street.

There will be road closures

Even if you're in Uptown on Saturday and not going to the show, you could feel the impact of road closures in the area.

The following streets will close in Uptown on October 26 at 8 a.m. and reopen at 11:30 p.m., according to the city of Charlotte:

  • Mint Street between Morehead Street and First Street
  • Graham Street between Mint Street and Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard
  • Brooklyn Village Avenue from Mint Street and Church Street

What (not) to bring

Concertgoers should remember that there is a clear bag policy if they plan to bring things with them. 

The following items will be permitted but will be inspected at bag check locations prior to entry include:

  • Any transparent plastic, vinyl or PVC bag no larger than 12" x 6" x 12"
  • Purses, bags or clutches no larger than 4.5" x 6.5"
  • Containers for medical supplies or special food items for diabetics (please contact the director of security at 704-358-7000 for more information on the approval process)
  • Flags without poles or sticks
  • Seat pads without covers, zippers, clasps, pockets or any other device that would allow the concealment of any items
  • Tablets

What's the forecast?

There's a very, very low chance for rain on Saturday, meaning you likely won't need a poncho or rain jacket when you head to Bank of America Stadium.

Saturday will be a sunny and very warm day with highs in the low 80s, at least ten degrees above the average high for late October.  Temperatures overnight will fall into the low 50s.
