1. Prescription drugs

Prescription medication prices at warehouse club pharmacies are usually lower, plus you don't even have to be a member to take advantage of the savings.

2. Eye care

Purchase prescription glasses and contact lenses for less. Some warehouse clubs even have on-site ophthalmologists where you can get discounted eye exams and other services.

3. Gasoline

Prices at warehouse clubs can be up to 30 cents less per gallon. With gas prices over $3 in the Carolinas, every penny counts.

4. Gift cards

Many warehouse clubs offer gift cards up to 20% cheaper than face value, meaning you could score a $100 gift card for around $80. Why would you buy a gift card anywhere else? Most warehouse clubs have gift cards for virtually every major retailer, including Amazon.

5. Cleaning products

This is one area where buying in bulk matters. You can save money buying cleaning products with a long shelf life. Think of laundry detergent and multi-purpose cleaners that don't need to be used quickly.

6. Travel

Use in-house agents to get deals on airfare, hotels, car rentals and cruises.
