CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Diner en Blanc is one of the hottest tickets in town. WCNC Charlotte and the Charlotte International Arts Festival are partners of the event, which will be held in late September at a secret location in Charlotte.
Diner en Blanc is an exquisite, all-white outdoor picnic gathering of thousands of people. September 28, 2024, is the sixth edition of Diner en Blanc in Charlotte. The location will remain a secret until the last moment, adding to the excitement and mystery of the spectacular event.
“I never thought that it would get to this point, but 45,000 people on the waitlist,” said host Tara Robertson. “We started out with 4,000.”
This year 3,000 people will attend Diner en Blanc and there are rules guests must follow:
• Dress all in white. Accessories can be white, silver, or gold.
• Bring your own table, chairs, and picnic basket. Prepare your own beautiful dinner or order a gourmet meal from the Diner en Blanc catering menu.
• Attend, rain or shine. Diner en Blanc will take place!
• Guests arrive at secret location with a table leader. Follow their instructions. They know what’s happening!
Entertainment will be provided by the Charlotte International Arts Festival.
“We have a bunch of different international groups performing,” said Alana Graber, Charlotte International Arts Festival.
Guests will be entertained by Birdmen, the illuminated creatures, Cirque Kalabante, and the NC Brazilian Arts Project will be there.
Months of planning goes into pulling off a successful event of this magnitude.
“We’re actually planning next year as we’re implementing this year‘s event,” Robertson explained.
WCNC Charlotte anchors Vanessa Ruffess and Kayland Hagwood are the event emcees. Watch WCNC Charlotte at 11 pm on September 28 for coverage of the event.
