CHARLOTTE, N.C. — An 18-year-old was arrested after a 2-year-old girl was shot in northwest Charlotte, according to Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police documents. The shooting happened early in the morning of Oct. 12.
CMPD's report said the house located in the 400 block of Wildwood Avenue, which is northwest of the intersection of Interstate 85 and Freedom Drive, was damaged during the shooting, as well as two cars parked at the property. Authorities said the house was "shot into." The three other people present in the home at the time of the shooting were not hurt.
Two other homes on Morgan Street were also struck, a CMPD report said. Both homes were occupied, but no injuries were reported.
An affidavit from CMPD indicates a suspect leaned out of the rear window of a car and fired at the home.
The little girl's name is not being released at this time. She was taken to Atrium Health Carolinas Medical Center with life-threatening injuries.
CMPD has since arrested Damarco Williams. According to a police report, Williams is connected to the string of shootings, as well as an armed carjacking that resulted in four suspects fleeing from officers.
He is now facing a long list of charges. Williams appeared in court Tuesday and is now being held on a $500,000 bond.
