Charlotte hair salon robbed at gunpoint, police say

An unknown suspect robbed Glam Headz Salon on Monday afternoon, according to the police report.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — An east Charlotte hair salon was robbed at gunpoint on Monday, police say.

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police were called to a reported robbery at Glam Headz Salon on North Sharon Amity Road around 3 p.m. on Sept. 23. When officers arrived, they were told a man entered the salon and demanded money after pulling out a gun. The robber left the store with two iPhones, according to a police report.

Glam Headz Salon is located in the East Town Market shopping center, near the intersection of W.T. Harris Boulevard and North Sharon Amity Road.

The salon announced on Instagram that it would make some security changes to prevent further incidents. Among those changes is requiring all customers to call and confirm their arrival before they'd be allowed in the building.

"We will not be letting anyone who is not a client into the salon," Glam Headz posted. "All clients must call while in their vehicles prior to coming into the salon to be buzzed in. If you do not call, you will not be let in."
