Suspect turns himself in for shooting at McDonald's in Rock Hill

Jerrique Dunham was wanted for the shooting of a teenager in August.

ROCK HILL, S.C. — A second person is in custody for the shooting of a teen outside a McDonald's restaurant in Rock Hill, according to police.

Jerrique Dunham turned himself in on Sunday, the Rock Hill Police Department said. Dunham is charged with attempted murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime.

The charges are in connection to an Aug. 25 shooting at the McDonald's on South Cherry Road in Rock Hill.

The 18-year-old victim was on life-sustaining medical care, police said in August. Initial information released had originally indicated the victim had died. In an update, police said medical officials are awaiting further observations before pronouncing him dead. Police have not shared the victim's condition since the night of the shooting.

The victim, whose name has not been released, was speaking to people in a gray, midsize SUV parked outside the McDonald's and was shot by someone inside the SUV, according to police. The suspects left the area after the shooting.

Police first charged Jerrique Dunham's brother, 20-year-old Jameson Larone Dunham, in August with accessory after the fact. He was arrested in Chester County and transported back to Rock Hill. He did not receive a bond in York County.

Court and bond information has not yet been determined for Jerrique Dunham, who is believed to be the shooter in this case.
