BROOME COUNTY, N.Y. โ Deputies in New York say they've arrested a teen wanted for a double homicide that happened in Mount Holly, North Carolina.
The Broome County Sheriff's Office said Southern Tier SWAT arrested the 17-year-old on Friday in the town of Union. In a Facebook post, the sheriff's office said they acted on information gathered by the US Marshal and a tip that led them to a house in town.
After a judge signed a search warrant, law enforcement moved in to make the arrest. The sheriff's office said the teen was taken into custody without incident.
The Southern Tier SWAT unit includes Broome County deputies, along with deputies from the Chenango County Sheriff's Office and the Endicott Police Department.
While the post did not directly link the teen's arrest to a specific incident, it did indicate the double homicide happened earlier in December. There has been only one double homicide investigation in Mount Holly this month. Two 19-year-olds from Concord were named as the victims.
The Mount Holly Police Department confirmed on Dec. 30, 2023 the suspect was indeed charged with the double homicide earlier in the month. Chief Brian Reagan continued to offer support for the victims' loved ones in a statement:
We hold the memories of Jaylan Marray Jackson and Jayden Dae'shun Munson close to our hearts, and our thoughts remain with their families. As we continue our pursuit of justice, we are very thankful for the unwavering support, understanding, and cooperation from our community.
Anyone with information about the case is urged to call Mount Holly Police at (704) 827-4343 or reach out anonymously to Gaston County Crime Stoppers at (704) 861-8000.
