Several people shot, including at least 2 under 18, in overnight Charlotte shootings

At least six people were shot, including one person who was killed, in less than 12 hours in Charlotte.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Several people were shot, including one person who was killed, across the Charlotte area late Memorial Day into Tuesday morning, officials said. The first shooting was reported around 7:15 p.m. Monday. 

Medic responded to multiple shootings early Tuesday morning, including on Westpark Drive, just off Tyvola Road in southwest Charlotte around 2:30 a.m. One person was taken to Levine's Children's Hospital with serious injuries.

No age was given for the victim, but if the victim is a juvenile, it would be the third person under 18 shot in Charlotte in the span of 12 hours.

It comes after two teens who were shot in a drive-by shooting on Siegle Point Drive near Uptown on the evening of Memorial Day. Both teens have non-life-threatening injuries, according to Medic.

Just a few hours later, one person was killed in a shooting in southwest Charlotte around 11 p.m. Monday on Kingsford Drive, just off East Arrowood Road in southwest Charlotte, Medic said.

Medic also responded to two more shootings in east Charlotte early Tuesday morning. The first was on Pennwood Lane, where one person was hospitalized with serious injuries, and another was on North Sharon Amity Road near Milton Road, where one person had non-life-threatening injuries.
