Second suspect charged in deadly robbery at north Charlotte motel, warrant shows

A 35-year-old man was found shot outside the Budget Inn on Old Statesville Road on June 20. Two people have been linked to his death.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A second person was arrested in connection with a deadly shooting at a north Charlotte motel last month, court records show.

Andre Poole is charged with murder and conspiracy to commit robbery with a dangerous weapon for his alleged involvement in a June 20 shooting that killed 35-year-old Howard Page. It happened at the Budget Inn on Old Interstate Road, just off Interstate 85 and North Graham Street. It's unclear if the incident started inside the hotel or the parking lot, where Page was found.

Poole was denied bond in a court appearance Friday. His next scheduled court date is July 31.

Note: WCNC instituted a policy in March 2021 regarding the broadcast or posting of mugshots.

WCNC will only air or post a mugshot if the person has been formally charged with a crime and in a few other cases. The exceptions include: If it appears the person could be a danger to themselves or others or if they are wanted by authorities; to differentiate between people with a common name; if the photos could encourage more victims to come forward. The news-editorial leadership may also decide to use a mugshot based on the severity of the crime(s) committed and/or the level of public interest in the crime and ensuing criminal proceedings.

WCNC Charlotte is showing the mugshot of the suspect in this case due to the serious nature of his charges.
