The victim was identified Friday as 32-year-old Jonathan Dockery.

On Friday, police arrested 40-year-old Tadarian Neal and 40-year-old Asia Tapp in connection to Dockery's death. Both are charged with first-degree murder and robbery with a dangerous weapon.

Arrest warrants show that Tapp and Neal attempted to rob Dockery of his cell phone using an "unknown metal instrument with a sharpened point."

Dockery's family sat down with WCNC Charlotte reporter Anna King on Saturday - barely holding it together.

“I just want my son back. My only son," said Dianne Freeman, Dockery's mother. "He has a good heart, he always stayed to himself, he doesn’t mind helping people -- it just hurt."

They say while they continue to grieve, they're trying to raise funds to properly say goodbye.

“If you see it in your heart, if you want to help get my brother cremated so we’ll have him, anything will help right now," Dockery's sister, Erica Dockery, said.

Both Neal and Tapp are expected in court on Monday morning.
