Heavy police presence after reported stabbing at Steele Creek gas station

The incident happened at the Mobil gas station along Steele Creek Road near the Charlotte Premium Outlets and I-485.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — One person was hurt in a possible stabbing at a gas station in Charlotte's Steele Creek area Friday morning, police said. 

Charlotte-Mecklenbug Police responded to an assault at a Mobil gas station on Steele Creek Road, near the Charlotte Premium Outlets and Interstate 485, around 6 a.m. Details are limited, but an officer at the scene told WCNC Charlotte one person was hurt in an incident "involving a sharp object." 

Medic said the victim was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. 

It's unclear what led up to the attack or if anyone is in custody. CMPD hasn't released any suspect information at this time. WCNC Charlotte has a crew at the scene working to learn more details. Anyone with information is asked to call Charlotte Crime Stoppers at 704-334-1600
