Anthony Smith was reported missing a week before he was found dead, police said.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A 15-year-old was arrested and charged with killing a Charlotte teen who was reported missing in September, detectives announced Thursday.

Anthony Smith, 15, was reported missing by his family on Sept. 4. His body was found a week later in southwest Charlotte near Old Pineville Road. Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police said Smith died from a gunshot wound.

CMPD hasn't released any further details on the case. Anyone with information is asked to call Charlotte Crime Stoppers at 704-334-1600. Witnesses may also call 704-432-TIPS to speak directly with homicide detectives.
