2 hurt in Uptown shooting

The incident was one of four overnight shootings in Charlotte.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Two people were shot in Uptown Charlotte early Friday, according to a police report obtained by WCNC Charlotte. 

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police responded to a report of shots being fired near the intersection of North Tryon Street and East Fifth Street around 3:15 a.m. When officers arrived, they learned two people had been shot.

While officers were investigating the shooting, they were told that both victims showed up at the hospital with gunshot wounds. It's unclear how serious their injuries were or if any arrests have been made. 

This was the first of two shootings that happened in Uptown overnight. The second incident occurred around 4:30 along West Trade Street near the intersection with South Cedar Street. One person was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries, according to Medic.

CMPD is investigating two other shootings that happened overnight. It was the second straight night that saw at least three shootings in the Queen City.
