YORK COUNTY, S.C. — One of the two teens charged in a deadly York shooting faced a judge Tuesday. The judge found probable cause and ordered continued detention.
The two teenagers, both 15, are accused of killing 21-year-old Jai'Shaun Young of Gastonia, North Carolina, on May 4.
It was the city's first homicide investigation since 2022, according to the York Police Department.
It is still unclear, though, if the two suspects will be tried as adults.
WCNC Charlotte reporter Austin Walker spoke to Young's parents in the aftermath of the deadly shooting earlier this month. Shauna Burger said her son's friends called her and told her what was going on. Since losing Young, Burger said she's still trying to catch her breath.
"I feel like I’ve had so many panic attacks," she said at the time. "It’s like I can't breathe. That was my biggest fear to bury one of my kids.”
