CONCORD, N.C. — On Monday, Jan. 29, Cabarrus County Schools had a public hearing where they heard from local families about a proposed decision to close Beverly Hills Elementary School.
A week later, the school board voted to approve closing the school.
Many families expressed their concerns in that hearing last week -- saying the Title One School is an anchor in the community and the decision would have an impact on disadvantaged families.
Closing the school is just be one part of a larger redistricting plan in the works for CCS and more students than just those at Beverly Hills could be affected.
School leaders voted 4-3 Monday, Feb. 5 to close the school.
A final vote on the redistricting plan is set for next Monday, Feb. 12.
