CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A stun gun was found in a student's backpack at a middle school in northeast Charlotte, the principal said.
It happened Thursday at Martin Luther King, Jr. Middle School.
"The situation was handled," Principal Jennifer Dean said in a message to families. "No students were in danger or threatened and classes went as normal."
Principal Dean also asked parents to talk to their children about "bringing inappropriate items to school."

Good afternoon/evening MLK families. This is Principal Dean with some important information. The safety and security of students is important to me and my team. Today at school a student had a stun gun in their backpack. Administration was notified of the item and the situation was handled. No students were in danger or threatened and classes went as normal. We were never in a lockdown. Please speak with your children about bringing inappropriate items to school. Any student who violates the Code of Student Conduct will be disciplined accordingly. Thank you for your support of MLK.
