CATAWBA, N.C. — Catawba singer Christina Eagle will advance past the knockout round on NBC's "The Voice" after being "saved" by Snoop Dogg on Monday night.
The 23-year-old performed "My Church" by Maren Morris during Monday's show on Team Snoop Dogg in the knockout round against two other performers. She was not chosen initially to advance by Snoop Dogg but was offered a "save" by all four coaches. She ultimately chose Snoop Dogg's save to stay on his team for the following rounds.
She made it onto "The Voice" after a rendition of Lainey Wilson's "Wildflowers and Wild Horses."
Coach Snoop Dogg hit his button at the very end of her performance after dancing in his chair while hearing her sing. Eagle cheered as the coaches turned their chairs after her performances. Coach Gwen Stefani said Eagle had a good attitude and energy, and she was excited to see what Eagle would do on Coach Snoop.
She made it through the battle rounds in a duet of Gretchen Wilson's "Redneck Woman" against fellow contestant Gail Bliss. Coach Snoop Dogg ultimately chose Eagle as the winner in that round, saying her performance had the most potential to grow.
Coach Gwen Stefani said she couldn't believe Eagle isn't signed to a record label yet, and Coach Michael Buble said she became Wonder Woman when she performed. Coach Snoop Dogg had high praise for the North Carolina singer.
"When you sing, you bring out the gangster Holy Ghost in me," Coach Snoop Dogg said. "I feel what you sing, it's a gift. And it's an honor to have you on my team."
She advances to the playoffs with the save. The Voice playoffs begin on Tuesday, Nov. 19 at 9 p.m. on WCNC Charlotte.
