CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Charlotte's own Sainted Trap Choir returned to the "America's Got Talent" stage Monday night for the final round on NBC's "America's Got Talent: Fantasy League."
The group performed a cover of Madonna's song "Like a Prayer" and thrilled both the crowd and the judges. The results of the competition will be aired on Monday, Feb. 19.
"I have seen how hard this group has worked," Simon Cowell, one of the show's judges, said after their performance. "We’ve thrown them some tough songs and challenges and they’ve embraced the challenges."
The episode comes just one day after Sainted joined famed soul singer Andra Day in a performance of "Lift Every Voice and Sing," more commonly known as the Black national anthem, at the start of the Super Bowl.
Sainted first formed in 2020 and features over 25 members. The group made it to the semifinals in season 18 of "America's Got Talent," which aired on WCNC Charlotte in 2023. Then, for AGT's "Fantasy League" spin-off, Cowell, Heidi Klum, Howie Mandel, Terry Crews, and Mel B each formed a "Dream Team" made up of acts from across various "AGT" seasons. Sainted is on Cowell's team.
Sainted advanced to the "America's Got Talent: Fantasy League" finals after a rousing performance of "Purple Rain" by Prince that led Cowell to press the Golden Buzzer, granting the group an automatic spot.
"I really pray that this moment will change your lives, and I'm going to give you something from my heart," Cowell said to the group before pressing the Golden Buzzer.
The winning act will get a $250,000 grand prize, but the team has other dreams they are chasing after as well.
"We want to do ours, we want to do a Vegas residency, we want to travel, and we want to be able to do this for a living," co-founder Dennis Reed previously told WCNC Charlotte.
