2nd man arrested for role in deadly Rock Hill block party shooting, police say

The arrest stems from a block party along Southland Drive that turned violent on June 1.

ROCK HILL, S.C. — Rock Hill police arrested a second suspect said to be involved in a deadly shooting at a block party in a Rock Hill neighborhood, which claimed the lives of two people.

Quantrel Jaheim Barrino, 18, was arrested early on Saturday morning.

Police had been looking for Barrino after detectives issued an "Accessory Before the Fact of Murder" warrant for his arrest.

The warrant was based on information showing he was involved in a shooting that resulted in the killing of 44-year-old Montest Mincey, police said.

The arrest stems from a block party along Southland Drive that turned violent on June 1. Officers in the area said they heard gunshots coming from the party around 10 p.m.

Two people, including Mincey and 21-year-old Maricus Kirk, died at the scene. Two other people were hurt, but survived.

The Rock Hill Police Department had announced the arrest of 19-year-old D’markieoun Ji’shae Clyburn on Friday, accusing him of killing Mincey. Clyburn was arrested in Lancaster County and is being brought to the Rock Hill jail. He will then be formally served with his murder warrant.

Barrino was taken to the Rock Hill Jail where he was served with his warrant and formally booked. Barrino and Clyburn were both denied bond during weekend court appearances.

A person who spoke to WCNC Charlotte anonymously said they saw people wearing ski masks during the shooting.

Detectives are continuing to investigate.
