Death investigation in east Charlotte

Medic confirmed they responded to a reported shooting in the Hickory Grove neighborhood.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A person was shot and killed in east Charlotte Friday evening.

Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department's homicide unit are conducting the death investigation along Burnt Umber Drive. CMPD did not immediately indicate if the death was a criminal investigation.

Medic confirmed they responded to a reported shooting in the Hickory Grove neighborhood.

WCNC Charlotte is working to learn additional information about this investigation.

This is the second death investigation in Charlotte on Friday. Earlier in the day, detectives were investigating a death in southwest Charlotte.
