Charlotte family seeking answers after daughter was one of two bodies found Wednesday

The two bodies were later identified as Millie May Danzey and Cedric Watts, who was reported missing last week.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Editor's note: WCNC Charlotte had previously identified the missing person who was found dead, but removed his name as his family had not yet been notified. Since both people have been publicly identified, WCNC Charlotte has chosen to include both of their names.

Landora Danzy said she knew something was wrong when she couldn’t get in touch with her daughter, Millie May Danzy.

"I kept calling and calling," Landora Danzy said. "She never misses any holidays from these kids, I knew something was wrong,"

The news unraveled after the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department searched Green Needles Court, looking for Cedric Watts who had been missing for a week.

CMPD said Watts was found dead Wednesday afternoon near Green Needles Court, which is about 7 miles from his home and about 14 miles away from where he was originally said to be headed.

Police said 31-year-old Millie May Danzy was found dead along with him.

Landora said Millie had a good heart and would do anything for anyone.

"I'm sorry for Mr. Cedric. I knew him for four months 'cause he comes here with my daughter," Landora said. "She would let people in and feed them and all, she was so nice."

As the Danzy family continues to search for answers, CMPD is continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding their deaths.

Landora said that they're praying for justice, not only for Millie but also for the four children she left behind.

"People know stuff but they're not saying nothing they know," said Landora said. "They got fingerprints of everybody that has been in my daughter's house, God is going to handle this.

WCNC Charlotte also spoke to Watts' mother, who said her son lives with her and that it was totally out of character for him not to check in with the family. She said he missed out on their tradition of giving Christmas Eve gifts to the family's children and his church's Christmas service, something that he has never skipped out on. She also noted that, to her knowledge, Watts hadn't experienced any major life events or stressful situations that could impact his mental health.

CMPD notes the investigation remains ongoing. However, the department said as of now, foul play does not appear to be a factor.
