CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Four people were taken to the hospital after a fire broke out in a northwest Charlotte neighborhood, officials said.
The Charlotte Fire Department responded to the blaze along Coronet Way, just off Rozzelles Ferry Road, around midnight with flames showing upon arrival. It took 30 Charlotte firefighters around 20 minutes to control the blaze.
One person was taken to the hospital with serious injuries and three more were hospitalized with minor injuries, according to Medic.
Investigators determined the fire was caused by unattended cooking, causing $25,000 in damages.
The Red Cross is assisting those displaced, according to Charlotte Fire.
This marks the latest in a series of serious fires sparked in the Charlotte area this week. On Wednesday, firefighters responded to the blaze just before 3 a.m. at an apartment complex along Wallace Road, where four people were also hurt.
On Tuesday morning, firefighters responded to a fire at Calvary Church on Pineville-Matthews Road Tuesday afternoon. One person was taken to the hospital following the blaze.
Just hours before, crews responded to a fire at a home in south Charlotte, where a firefighter was hospitalized after a ceiling collapse.
