New shuttle service launches in SouthPark

The electric shuttles will run on demand from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. every day.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Charlotte's SouthPark neighborhood is launching a new microtransit service Friday.

The service is called SouthPark Skipper. It's a free shuttle service helping residents, workers, and visitors get around the area.

The electric shuttles will run on demand from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. every day. It's all part of a one year pilot program funded by SouthPark Community Partners.

Those interested in using the service can start by using the Freebee App, which serves as a microtransit tool for communities in multiple states.
