CHARLOTTE, N.C. — The polls closed in North Carolina at 7:30 p.m. on Election Day for the Nov. 5, 2024, general election. Any voter in line at their assigned polling place at 7:30 p.m. was able to vote. 

Election officials are watching as results flow in for critical races in North Carolina such as President, Governor, Lieutenant Governor, Treasurer, Attorney General, Superintendent of Public Instruction, Supreme Court associate justice, Labor Commissioner and various U.S. House and North Carolina House and Senate District seats. Many counties have elections for boards of commissioners and boards of education.
