CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Vice President Kamala Harris is scheduled to visit North Carolina this week, according to her campaign.
Harris will be in Raleigh on Friday, Aug. 16, to discuss her plan to lower costs for middle-class families, according to a news release. Harris, the leader to become the Democratic nominee, is also expected to discuss how her administration will take on corporate price gouging.
The visit comes after Harris' previous trip to North Carolina was canceled by Tropical Storm Debby. Republican vice presidential nominee JD Vance also postponed a trip to the Tar Heel State.
It's unclear if Harris will be joined by her running mate, Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz, who was scheduled to be with her during last week's trip.
Recent polls have shown that Harris now has a lead over former President Donald Trump in three battleground states. Trump is currently ahead in North Carolina, a state he won in both 2016 and 2020.
