CHARLOTTE, N.C. β NASCAR Hall of Fame driver Dale Earnhardt Jr. has a new gig, as he will join the TNT Sports broadcast team for the 2025 season, the network announced on Tuesday.
Earnhardt Jr., who retired from the NASCAR Cup Series after the 2017 season, spent the last six years with NBC Sports. His contract expired at the end of last season and he wasn't brought back in 2024.
Earnhardt will be an on-air commentator for TNT Sports' exclusive coverage of five NASCAR Cup Series races each summer. The events will be broadcast on TNT and streamed via the Bleacher Report add-on with Max. As part of the arrangement, Earnhardt's Dirty Mo Media will produce a new content series that interviews special guests while they drive around tracks with Earnhardt in the passenger seat.
βIt is such an exciting time to welcome TNT Sports back to NASCAR,β Earnhardt Jr. said. "I remember watching the races on TNT back in the day, and itβs so nostalgic to see them return to the sport and to be a part of their team. Iβm looking forward to joining their team and also getting the chance to work with Bleacher Report creating content that our fans will enjoy.β
Earnhardt will also be part of Prime Video's broadcast team for its inaugural season in 2025. Prime Video and TNT will broadcast 10 races from 2025 through 2031. Amazon's portion of the schedule marks the first time NASCAR races will be exclusively streamed online.
The 10 races in between will be split evenly between Amazon Prime Video and TNT Sports. In addition to airing live races, Amazon and TNT will cover all practice and qualifying events for the entire season -- Amazon will cover these events for the first half of the season and TNT will handle coverage for the second half.
NBC Sports will broadcast the final 14 races of the season, keeping America's most popular motorsports series on WCNC Charlotte through 2031. Select races will be streamed on Peacock, in addition to airing on NBC and USA Network.
