2 hurt in I-485 crash, Medic says

The crash happened on the Outer Loop of I-485 between Harrisburg Road and North Carolina 24.

MECKLENBURG COUNTY, N.C. — A section of the Interstate 485 Outer Loop was closed due to a crash in east Charlotte, officials said.

According to NCDOT, the crash happened a little after 8 a.m. on the Outer Loop between Exit 41 for North Carolina 24/Albemarle Road and Harrisburg Road, which is Exit 39.

All three lanes of the Outer Loop were closed for about an hour. The road reopened around 9 a.m., but delays are likely as traffic slowly makes its way past the crash location.

Medic confirmed that two people were seriously injured in the crash. WCNC Charlotte has reached out to North Carolina State Highway Patrol for more information.
