INDIAN LAND, S.C. — Logs spilled onto a major roadway near the state line of North Carolina and South Carolina just south of Charlotte Monday afternoon.
Crews worked to clear the logs and the overturned truck from US 521 near Red Ventures Drive. Drivers were asked to avoid the area.
A photo posted to X, the social media platform formerly known as Twitter, shows the logs blocking some of the roadway northbound. The picture was posted by Master Trooper Gary Miller, the South Carolina Highway Patrol community relations officer for York, Cherokee, Union, Chester, Fairfield, Lancaster and Chesterfield counties.
The log truck is the third truck in the greater Charlotte area to overturn Monday on major roadways. Earlier Monday, a tanker truck overturned on Interstate 77 also near the state line. Later Monday, a truck carrying lumber overturned on Interstate 85 in west Charlotte.
