Person killed in west Charlotte crash, Medic says

The crash happened near the intersection of Freedom Drive and Little Rock Road on Thursday afternoon.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — One person was killed in a crash on Freedom Drive in west Charlotte on Thursday, Medic confirmed. 

The crash happened around 1 p.m. near the intersection with Little Rock Road, not far from Toddville Road. Medic said the victim was pronounced dead at the scene. 

Three of four lanes along Freedom Drive were closed for the investigation. According to DriveNC, the crash is expected to cause delays until around 2:45 p.m. Drivers can use Mount Holly Road and Rozzelles Ferry Road as an alternate route in west Charlotte. 

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police haven't identified the victim or announced if any charges will be filed in connection with the crash. It's unclear what caused the wreck.
