CHARLOTTE, N.C. — American Airlines will kick off its largest winter international schedule from Charlotte Douglas International Airport this week, offering flights to dozens of destinations with greater availability than last year.
American passengers can take advantage of the airline's major expansion out of Charlotte with flights to Mexico, the Caribbean and Latin America. American will offer expanded service to 10 destinations, including Montego Bay, Jamaica, St. Croix in the Virgin Islands and Curacao. In total, American offers non-stop service to 93 destinations in Mexico, the Caribbean and Latin America from its nine hubs, including Charlotte Douglas.
Experts said more people will be traveling over the holidays this year than in 2022, with 59% of travelers choosing to fly over the Thanksgiving holiday. Travel website Going says the average price of airfare has been on a downward trend since peaking in May 2022, falling 13% from those prices.
According to Going's website, a roundtrip flight from Charlotte Douglas International Airport to Venice, Italy, around Thanksgiving could be found for as low as $486, when the original trip was costing $950.
American recently announced it will provide service to eight new destinations through next summer, including Governor's Harbour, Bahamas, as well as Ocho Rios, Jamaica, and Copenhagen, Denmark. In total, American's 50 new routes serves customers across more than 350 destinations worldwide.
