KINGS MOUNTAIN, N.C. — Four people have been arrested for the deadly October shooting of an armored truck employee in Kings Mountain, the police department announced Wednesday.
Richard Walter Henderson IV, 29, of Charlotte, was driving a Loomis Fargo armored truck when he stopped to work on an ATM outside a pharmacy on East King Street. Henderson died after being shot multiple times, according to police.
The four suspects are accused of following Henderson from Mecklenburg County, Kings Mountain Police Chief Gerald Childress explained. Henderson had stopped to service a drive-up ATM. No money was stolen from the ATM.
Childress identified as the suspects as:
- Dominick Anthony Singleton, 38, of Norwood, NC
- Melek Isaiah Thomas, 28, of Charlotte, NC
- Jamal Delkeis Cunningham, 29, of New London, NC
- Damareon Laron Dockery, 20, of West End, NC
The four were being interviewed at the FBI field office in Charlotte on Wednesday, according to Childress.
Shortly after the shooting in October, the police department shared surveillance photos of the suspect's car. The photos show it to be a newer-model black Jeep Compass Freedom Edition with a distinctive star decal on the hood. The car also appeared to have temporary paper tags.
The vehicle was located in Charlotte by the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department. Kings Mountain authorities said the vehicle's owner is cooperating with the investigation and claims he had loaned the vehicle out for a few days when the shooting occurred.
Childress previously confirmed the victim was armed and his weapon was recovered at the scene.
"We will locate you, we will find you," Childress pledged in October. "It may take some time, but we will find you and bring you to justice."
