CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A suspect in an east Charlotte shooting could find out Thursday if he'll face the death penalty.
Fabio Funes is set to appear in court Thursday morning.
He is one of two people identified as suspects in a deadly September shooting.

On Sept. 26, Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police responded to a reported shooting at a townhome complex on Eastcrest Drive. When officers arrived, they found 25-year-old Khyre' Grier dead from multiple gunshot wounds. The first suspect, Fabio Funes, was quickly identified as a suspect in the case and arrested. The day after the shooting, CMPD shared a photo of the second suspect, later identified as Ramon Funes. Ramon Funes was arrested in Texas in early October and was recently extradited back to Mecklenburg County.

Fabio Funes was denied bond in his initial court appearance, and had an indictment issued. He was also required to prove fingerprints and a DNA sample.
