MOUNT HOLLY, N.C. — The Mount Holly Police Department announced a third person was arrested Thursday and charged with the murder of two 19-year-olds in a double homicide case.
Officers said 20-year-old Marquan Ladarien Marshall, of Gastonia, was located and arrested in Greensboro. He faces two felony charges of first-degree murder and a misdemeanor charge of possession of a concealed weapon.
"The Mount Holly Police Department is profoundly grateful for the dedication and collaborative efforts of law enforcement agencies involved in this intensive investigation,” Chief Brian Reagan said in a statement. “This arrest highlights our commitment to ensuring the safety and well-being of our community, and we will continue to work tirelessly to bring closure to the affected families.”
Marshall is now the third suspect facing charges tied to the December 14, 2023 killing of Jaylan Marray Jackson and Jayden Dae-shun Munson, both Concord residents. They were both killed in a vehicle near Piedmont Avenue and Dodge Street.
The first arrest happened hundreds of miles away and nearly two weeks later. A 17-year-old was arrested in the state of New York after deputies there acted on a tip. The teen was taken into custody without incident.
Roughly two weeks after that, 18-year-old Zabreon Isaiah Wallace was arrested in Fairmont, North Carolina, about 150 miles southeast of Mount Holly. Wallace was charged with one count of first-degree murder and two counts of robbery with a dangerous weapon.
Online jail records do not list a court date for Marshall's first appearance as of publication.
