CALDWELL COUNTY, N.C. — A 15-year-old was charged in connection with threats made against West Caldwell High School, investigators say.
The incident is just one of several threats the school district reported to police last week. Officers say the teen, who hasn't been identified, will be charged with making a false report.
Numerous school districts in the Charlotte area have received threats since the Apalachee High School shooting. Two juveniles were charged in connection with a string of threats at schools in Cleveland, Gaston and Lincoln counties, while Bailey Middle School in Cornelius received a bomb threat on Monday.
A spokesperson for Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools told WCNC Charlotte that an increase in threats following acts of violence isn't uncommon. The district said last week that over 40 North Carolina schools had received threats, all of which weren't credible.
