CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Carowinds is expected to introduce a "record-breaking" water ride in 2026, according to a statement released Thursday by its parent company Six Flags Entertainment Corporation.
The addition is the latest in the company’s $1 billion push to enhance guest experience over the next two years.
No details were released about the ride or its design.
In August, Carowinds unveiled plans for two new attractions for its Camp Snoopy section in 2025, including a new family-friendly roller coaster. The park also announced new splash play zones and a camp store meet-and-greet experience for guests that features the entire "Peanuts" gang.
“Our capital investment plans for the next two years reinforce our commitment to providing unmatched thrills, immersive entertainment and lifelong memories to guests of all ages,” Six Flags President & CEO Richard A. Zimmerman said Thursday.
Carowinds season pass holders will be able to access Six Flags parks starting Jan. 6, 2025. The premium season pass add-on allows free parking and entry to all legacy Cedar Fair and Six Flags parks. Other pass benefits will be available at legacy Cedar Fair parks.
In July 2024, Carowinds’ former parent company Cedar Fair, merged with Six Flags. The combined entertainment corporation includes 27 amusement parks, 15 water parks and nine resort properties across 17 states in the U.S., Canada and Mexico.
Six Flags is expected to spend $500 million in 2025 and $525 million in 2026 to enhance guest experience. That includes new rides, attractions, themed areas, dining upgrades, and technology enhancements.
“The new Six Flags has a unique opportunity to refresh and renew the guest experience, one so compelling that a visit to one of our parks will be viewed as an indispensable choice in family entertainment,” Zimmerman said.
